The Faculty of Philosophy participated in the campaign "16 days of activism against gender-based violence"

The Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica also participated in a series of activities this year with the aim of problematizing topics such as the fight for human rights and discrimination, thereby continuing the long-standing practice of participating in dialogue on important social issues. In cooperation with the TPO Foundation from Sarajevo, as part of the "16 days of activism" campaign, an educational workshop was held for students of the 4th year of the Department of Cultural Studies. A total of 10 female and male students participated in the workshop, who were divided into "male" and "female" groups with the aim of obtaining input data for the workshop.

The workshops consisted of three parts. In the first part, the moderator held an introductory lecture on the topic of gender-based and peer violence, primarily focusing on places of primary and secondary socialization. In the second part, students wrote characteristics characteristic of male and female genders on flip-chart papers, after which a discussion was held about the reasons for separating them. In the third part, the students looked at the media content of the Bauk Feminauk edition, after which there was a discussion about the harmfulness of stereotypes, examples of discrimination in different private and public spheres. In the concluding part, the students summarized that the separation of human characteristics into "male" and "female" is not based on either biological or social construction, and that all gender identities are the result of negotiations between different levels and processes of socialization.
