Corona Glossary Project

The "Corona Glossary" project is part of a larger project initiated by the students of the Department of German Language and Literature. Students from the Department of English Language and Literature of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica joined the project and decided to contribute to the Glossary by adding English equivalents to German neologisms created during the coronavirus pandemic.

The project was realized by ten students of the fourth year of English language and literature: Amina Šabić, Anđela Radoš, Berina Haskić, Emrah Mujić, Ismar Hrnjičević, Mirnesa Hajdić, Muhamed Durmić, Nerma Mehić, Salih Pivić, Šejla Švraka under the mentorship of prof. Ph.D. Edine Rizvić-Eminović. The main task of this group was to translate the definitions of terms written in German into English and to list the equivalents of the same terms in English.

The glossary contains 809 terms and the whole project of including English equivalents took a total of seven weeks. The team of OEJK students relied in their work on "The Coronavirus Corpus" (https://www.english-corpora.org/corona/) to ensure that the mentioned terms exist in EJ, and that they are the same in frequent use by English speakers.
