Visit of IV year students to the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo

On November 12, 2015. students of the 4th year of the Department of German Language and Literature of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica together with Assoc. Michael Mayer and assistant Slobodanka Omerović responded to the invitation of the Goethe-Institut in Sarajevo and attended the lecture "Konstruktion von ethnic Identitäten" / "Construction of ethnic identities" by Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Kohl, a renowned ethnologist in the German-speaking area, held at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo.
The lecture was held under the auspices of the Goethe-Institut in Sarajevo, and at the very beginning the director of the Goethe-Institut, Charlotte Hermelink, gave an opening speech and greeted everyone present. The moderator was Prof. dr. Sulejman Bosto from the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, who presented the work of Prof. Dr. Kohl. Prof. dr. In his lecture, Kohl first gave definitions of the basic concepts of ethnology and presented three theories, which deal with issues of the construction of ethnic identities. All exposed theories, essentialist, constructive and primordial, were supported by research done in Africa, Afghanistan and Southeast Asia. After the lecture, a discussion was held, i.e. prof. dr. Kohl answered the students' questions.
The lecture was attended by the vice-rector of the University of Sarajevo Ugo Vlaisavljević, representatives of the Goethe-Institut, professors and students of the Universities of Sarajevo, Tuzla, Mostar and Zenica.
