TWO DECADES OF THE TURKISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE STUDY PROGRAM

Today was a ceremony at the Turkish Language and Literature study program at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zenica. The twentieth anniversary of the founding of the study program was marked with a ceremonial event and a student panel titled "Zenica's Neighborhoods in the Ottoman Population Census of 1850".

The Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Prof. Dr. Nezir Pivić, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Sarajevo, Emin Akseki, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Mirza Mušija, the President of the Turkish Historical Society, Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen, the Education Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Birol Çetin, the Director of the Yunus Emre Institute in Sarajevo, Mehmet Akif Yaman, the Director of the Turkish Agency for International Cooperation and Coordination, Gökhan Umut, and others, graced the festive event with their presence and appropriate speeches. In their speeches, they all agreed that the Turkish Language and Literature study program at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica, through diligent and dedicated work, is taking a leading position in teaching the Turkish language, Turkish literature, culture and history, strengthening cultural and historical ties between the Republic of Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The head of the Turkish Language and Literature study program, Prof. Dr. Edina Solak, thanked the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton and all Turkish institutions for their unreserved support over the past 20 years, with the wish that the cooperation will be even more productive in the future.

After the ceremonial event, a student panel was held on “Zenica Mahala in the Ottoman Census of 1850”. The panel presented seven expert papers providing detailed data on the population structure of Zenica Mahala in 1850. The student panel attracted the attention of prominent scientists studying the history of Zenica. The Director of the Oriental Institute in Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Aladin Husić, who has dedicated almost his entire academic work to studying the history of Zenica and Travnik, particularly emphasized the fact that top results in science can only be achieved through studious work filled with dedication and perseverance in research work, and that today’s student panel is the best indicator that such a methodology is being applied in the Turkish Language and Literature study program in Zenica.
