The last film “Rheingold” concluded the German Film Weeks as part of the Student Culture Festival

As part of the Student Festival of Culture (STUFEK), at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica, on Tuesday, May 27th The film "Rheingold" by Fatih Akin was screened. This screening successfully concluded the German Film Week, organized in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the German Language and Literature Study Program FFUNZE.

The film "Rheingold" is an impressive film adaptation of the autobiography of Xatar, a popular rapper of Kurdish origin. The film had its world premiere in 2022 and was nominated for the prestigious German Film Award the same year, which testifies to its artistic value and significance.

We had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the extraordinary story of the rise of Giwar Hajabi, better known to the general public as Xatar. The film takes us through his extremely turbulent life journey – from his exile from Iran and childhood spent in Bonn, through dealing with the world of crime, to achieving enormous success as a musician. “Rheingold” details all the challenges, struggles and key decisions that shaped Giwar’s life, including his time in prison. Throughout the film, we follow how all these events influenced his transformation into one of the most influential figures in the German hip-hop scene.

This intense and visually impressive film story explores themes of identity, belonging, ambition and survival in difficult circumstances.

A big thank you to all the students of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica, and to all the other visitors who joined us at the screening of the film "Rheingold" and thus made the finale of the "German Film Week" activities even more special!
