THE DEPARTMENT OF CULTURE AND TOURISM ORGANIZED THE 5TH STUDENT CONFERENCE "CULTURE AND TOURISM"

The Department of Culture and Tourism of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica organized the fifth consecutive student conference in the field of culture "Culture and Tourism", at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica.

The welcoming address at the conference was given by V. Prof. Dr. Alica Arnaut, and the attendees were also addressed by the Director of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Tourist Board, Šaban Ibrišimović, who emphasized the importance of systemic and field work in the field of tourism. The introductory presentation of the conference was given by the Senior Assistant of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Alen Šabanović, a doctoral student at the University of Zadar, and the guest lecturer was Afan Abazović, a tourist and mountain guide, winner of the City of Zenica Award, whose presentation emphasized a practical understanding of the challenges and potential of tourism in Zenica and the Zenica-Doboj Canton.

The conference is thematically focused on contemporary trends in the field of tourism, with a special emphasis on cultural and heritage tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the role of tourist guides, as well as the educational and development perspectives of this sector. The organizers emphasize that an important aspect of this year's conference is the establishment of the Culture and Tourism study program at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica, as well as the establishment of cooperation with the newly formed Tourist Board of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.

The conference was moderated by third-year students of Cultural Studies, Esmeralda Deranjić and Tarik Islamović, and presentations were also given by Cultural Studies students Zuhdija Karić, Indira Agić, Bojan Mandić and Faris Kovač.

The event was attended by teachers and students of the Zenica School of Economics, as well as students of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zenica.

The Culture and Tourism study program is enrolling 12 students in the upcoming academic year, which is funded from the budget. Enrollment for the study program begins in mid-June.
