The Department of Culture and Tourism organized a visit to the exhibition of Croatian cartoonists at Sarajevo's "Europe House"

As part of its regular teaching activities, the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zenica, organized an expert visit to the exhibition of contemporary Croatian cartoons, which was set up at the Europe House in Sarajevo. The exhibition presents a cross-section of works by notable Croatian cartoonists and satirists.

Students of Cultural Studies, guided by the professor and head of the study program, had the opportunity to view and analyze the artistic, cultural and political messages that contemporary caricature conveys through the medium of comics and satire. This activity is part of the teaching topics in the field of visual and pop culture, cultural production and interpretation, as well as European cultural policies, which are studied in this unique interdisciplinary study program in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Caricature is an extremely powerful cultural artifact - it combines visual art, media production, social criticism and political commentary in a format that is both humorous and symbolically strong. That is why it is valuable for our students who deal with culture in its broader social, communication, media and political dimensions," said Professor Dr. Damir Kukić, lecturer in the field of communications and media at the University of Zenica.

As a cultural project of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the exhibition was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Sarajevo, in cooperation with the European House and with the support of the Croatian Business Club in BiH. By looking at the exhibition, which reminds us of the importance of freedom of expression and the role of art in the critical reflection of contemporary society, students are enabled to have an immediate encounter with the transnational dimensions of cultural expression within the European cultural space, which is an important component of education in the study of culture and tourism at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zenica.
