Screened film "When it will finally be as it never was" (STUFEK)

As part of the Student Festival of Culture (STUFEK), the film by Sonja Heiss was screened at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. "When will it finally be as it never was" organized by the Goethe-Institut Bosnia and Herzegovina and the German Language and Literature Study Program FFUNZE.

It is a film adaptation of Joachim Meyerhoff's autobiographical bestseller from 2013. The film had its world premiere at the 2023 Berlinale and was nominated for the German Film Award the same year.

We had the opportunity to watch a film that brings an unusual story about the growth of Joachim, the youngest son of the director of a large psychiatric hospital. For Joachim, the clinic's patients are almost part of the family, often friendlier than his older brothers. The film follows Joachim's maturation, finding his first great love among his father's patients, dealing with the loss of his brother, going to the United States and finally returning to his unique family.

This incredibly funny, yet touching film story explores the complexity of family relationships and the challenges they bring.

Cornelia Geißler, in her review of the film published in 2023 in the Berliner Zeitung, writes: "Whoever doesn't laugh at this film has no sense of humor. Who doesn't cry with this film has no heart."

Thank you to the students and students of SP German Language and Literature and SP English Language and Literature, and other guests for joining us!

Don't miss the next screenings – every week, on Tuesdays at 2:00 PM at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zenica.
