Promotion of the project for the inscription of the "Spring Uranka - Zenica Čimburijada" on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held - Faculty of Philosophy in Zenica, partner in the project

The Zenica Citizens' Forum, a partner organization of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zenica, today organized a very successful promotion of the project of Inscription of the "Spring Uranka - Zenica Čimburijada" on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Zenica City Museum. The traditional event dedicated to marking the first day of spring in Zenica has been held for decades and has become one of the recognizable symbols of our city. For this reason, the Zenica Citizens' Forum initiated the procedure for including Čimburijada on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2023. The procedure involved filling out an official application and preparing a Study, and professional assistance in preparing the necessary materials was provided by prof. dr. Mirza Džananović from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zenica, who was also one of the speakers at today's promotion.
The preparation of the Study and submission of the application were completed at the beginning of this year, and the official confirmation of the inclusion of “Spring Uranka – Zenica Čimburijada” on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina arrived at the beginning of December 2024. In accordance with the regulations, by including Čimburijada on this List, it automatically became part of the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. With the completion of the inclusion process, Čimburijada became the first example of intangible cultural heritage from the area of the City of Zenica, but also the Zenica-Doboj Canton, which was included on the aforementioned lists of intangible heritage. The implementation of this project ensured better promotion but also a more efficient way of preserving Čimburijada as an important element of the intangible cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Zenica Citizens' Forum and the Faculty of Philosophy in Zenica have shown that great results can be achieved by working together, and it is to be hoped that in the near future other examples of intangible cultural heritage of Zenica and the Zenica-Doboj Canton will also be included in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of our country. The partnership projects of our faculty and the Zenica Citizens' Forum continue to develop, and the first results of this cooperation will be visible as part of the implementation of the upcoming Student Culture Festival at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zenica, which will be held in the spring of 2025.
