Math camp for elementary school students 2025.

Department of Mathematics and Informatics partner in the implementation of the third mathematics camp for elementary school students
The Department of Mathematics and Informatics of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica was a partner in the implementation of the third mathematics camp for elementary school students, which was held last weekend at the Medresa “Osman ef. Redžović”. The camp brought together around 90 elementary school students from different regions, and its goal was to promote mathematics through interesting and interactive activities.
The expert team from SP for mathematics and informatics was led by:
Prof. Dr. Naida Bikić
Prof. Dr. Safet Hamedović
Assistant Vehid Kurtić, MA
Assistant Edina Kadrić Durmiš
Assistant Narcisa Hadžajlić, MA
Assistant Lea Kokorović
In addition to them, support in the work of the camp was also provided by our volunteer students: Amna Gačić, Medina Oruč and Ajla Jašarević, who with their engagement additionally contributed to the quality of the program and organization.
During the camp, students had the opportunity to participate in workshops on algebra, geometry, programming on micro:bit devices, as well as in team challenges such as an escape room and a prize-winning knowledge quiz. The camp was also an opportunity to test students' knowledge through final tests by grade, which further encouraged their motivation to learn mathematics.
For our Department, participation in such projects represents a significant contribution to the promotion of mathematical literacy, scientific curiosity among young people, and the study program Mathematics and Informatics. At the same time, it enables teachers and students to directly apply knowledge, and strengthens cooperation with primary and secondary schools.
