MARKING / CELEBRATION OF WOMEN'S DAY (workshop)

The Faculty of Philosophy, as part of the UNIGEM project (TPO Foundation), organized a workshop entitled "Celebrating Women's Day" on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. The workshop was organized on the occasion of March 8, and the goal was to show what March 8 meant to women who fought for the right to vote and for the visibility of women in public space, and what this holiday of women's rights and the revolutionary struggle of Clara Zetkin has turned into today.
The workshop was visited by students from the First Gymnasium in Zenica, the Second Gymnasium in Zenica, and the Technical School in Zenica, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their arrival and active participation.
Through a dramatic performance, male and female students of Cultural Studies and Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian languages and literature problematized the way this day is celebrated in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Then they held a presentation in which they introduced the audience to the history of this holiday, and drew a parallel between marking and celebrating. After that, they opened a discussion during which students shared their opinions about Women's Day and its concept. Then attention was paid to the language, that is, to the stereotypical messages that are sent subliminally through platitudes - empty phrases that are ubiquitous before, during and after March 8. The discussion on that topic was led by as. Larisa Mahmić, MA. The workshop ended with a short address by prof. Ph.D. Edise Gazetić.
The workshop sent a message to all attendees that it is okay to celebrate and rejoice, especially in today's times when it is necessary to preserve mental health, but must not forget the point of Women's Day - equality and the fight for it, a fight that is still going on!
We would like to thank our valuable students: Adin, Bojan, Esmeralda, Hafsa, Marija, Tajra and Zuhdija. They are the most responsible for the success of this workshop!
