DAYS OF THE FACULTY OF PHILOSOPHY IN ZENICA: "THIS IS HOW OUR STORY BEGAN"

As part of the "Days of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zenica" event, which marks the 30th anniversary of the existence of this higher education institution, a special program entitled "This is how our story began: remembering the first academic hour" was held today. Namely, on this day, exactly thirty years ago, in difficult wartime circumstances, Prof. Ph.D. Željko Škuljević held the first lecture at the newly established Pedagogical Academy in Zenica. On that occasion, Prof. Ph.D. Spahija Kozlić and prof. Ph.D. Bernard Harbaš, professors of philosophy at the University of Zenica, and writer Aras Borić, head of the University Library, made a kind of homage to the legendary professor Škuljević, thus marking the sad anniversary, five years since his death. In a lively conversation with the teachers and students of the University, the guests recalled numerous anecdotes and friendships with the late professor Škuljević, but also asked questions about the place of the academy in the modern world today and what it even means to "philosophize" in our time, in the conditions of late capitalism and postmodernism "To philosophize means, first of all, to live," agreed the guests of the program, thus reminding the idea of Professor Škuljević himself, which he often emphasized - thinking and talking about thinking need to be brought back to the people again and again, in the square, in the pub, in the classroom.
