Students of Cultural Studies participated in a roundtable on media freedom organized by the OSCE and the Association of BH Journalists

Third-year students of Cultural Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zenica, Esmeralda Deranjić and Tarik Islamović, together with the assistant of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Selma Alić–Šišić, participated in a roundtable dedicated to media freedom, which was held in Zenica on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day.

The event was organized by the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Association of BH Journalists, and brought together journalists, media representatives, the Press Council and online media of BiH, as well as representatives of the academic community from the Zenica-Doboj and Central Bosnia Cantons.

The roundtable discussed key challenges related to the safety of journalists, freedom of expression, and professional and ethical standards of reporting. Participants emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral cooperation in preserving a free and responsible media space, especially in the context of growing pressures and threats facing media professionals in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The participation of students and teaching staff from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica confirms the importance of including young people and the academic community in current social and media processes, and raising awareness of the importance of free journalism for the democratic development of society.
