Cultural studies students on a professional visit to Travnik

Students of the 3rd and 4th year of the Cultural Studies study program at the Faculty of Philosophy paid an official professional visit to Travnik, as part of their classes in the subjects of Archival Studies, Cultural Heritage Management and Cultural Heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The students were accompanied by their professors and assistants during the visit.

As part of the visit, the students visited the Travnik Cantonal Archives, formerly the State Archives, where they learned about the basic functions of archival activities, methods of protecting, processing and preserving archival materials, as well as the role of archives in preserving institutional and cultural-historical memory. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of archives in the context of public interest and cultural heritage management, and the employees of the Archives introduced the students to the challenges and problems faced by the only archival institution in the wider area of Central Bosnia.

The professional visit also included the Travnik Museum, where students had the opportunity to learn about museum collections, the principles of museum presentation and interpretation of cultural heritage, and the role of museums in contemporary cultural and educational practices.

This field trip provided students with direct insight into the work of key cultural heritage institutions in Travnik, and connected theoretical knowledge acquired in class with concrete examples from practice. The visit to Travnik represents an important segment of the professional education of Cultural Studies students and contributes to the development of their competencies in the field of archival science and cultural heritage management.
