CULTURAL STUDIES STUDENTS AT A JOINT SCREENING AND DISCUSSION OF THE FILM "BLUM" IN SARAJEVO

Students of Cultural Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica, together with colleagues from the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo and the Academy of Performing and Fine Arts, attended the joint screening of the documentary film "Bloom: Masters of the Future" at the Meeting Point cinema in Sarajevo. After the screening, the students participated in a conversation and discussion with director Jasmila Žbanić, moderated by Amra Bakšić Čamo, a professor at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo. The visit was coordinated and led by prof. Ph.D. Hazim Begagić.
The documentary film “Blum: Masters of Their Future” follows the life and work of Emerik Blum, a visionary who transformed Energoinvest from a small factory with 70 workers after World War II into one of the most successful European corporations at the time with more than 50,000 employees. Through a self-management model in which workers directly participated in decision-making, Blum demonstrated how a democratic approach can achieve extraordinary economic success.
For students of Cultural Studies, this story provides valuable insight into how cultural, along with political and economic factors, can shape social structures and identities. Blum's work illustrates how through innovative approaches and inclusive decision-making, remarkable social progress can be achieved, which is crucial for understanding the dynamics of cultural change and overall development.
