Students of the Faculty of Philosophy participated in an info session on journalist safety

Students of the fourth year of Cultural Studies and assistant Selma Alić - Šišić participated in the info session "What happens when a journalist becomes a target? - Legal mechanisms against threats, attacks and pressure", which was held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Zenica Hotel.

The event was organized by Local Foundation Zenica as part of the project “The Power of Community: Let's Say NO to Violations of the Rights and Safety of Journalists in Local Communities”, which is being implemented with the support of the network SafeJournalists and in cooperation with Association "BH Journalists".

Through lectures and open discussions with legal experts – lawyers and prosecutors – participants had the opportunity to learn about available mechanisms for legal protection of journalists, existing practice and the role of the judiciary in combating attacks and pressure on media workers.

Students from the Faculty of Philosophy contributed to the discussion on the position of journalists in local communities, questioning the limits of media freedom and ethical challenges in contemporary journalism. As they pointed out, participation in such events represents a valuable experience that connects theoretical knowledge acquired through subjects such as Media and globalization, Media literacy and New media with the real challenges of media practice.
