CEREMONY SESSION OF THE SCIENTIFIC - TEACHING COUNCIL on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Philosophy

As part of the manifestation Days of the Faculty of Philosophy and the celebration of 30 years since the foundation of the Faculty of Philosophy, a formal session of the Faculty's Scientific and Teaching Council was held today. The words of welcome were given by the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Professor Alica Arnaut, who highlighted the historical importance and contribution of the Faculty of Philosophy: "For three decades we have been walking the thorny, demanding and challenging path of education and upbringing of young people. We grew from a two-year Pedagogical Academy with one study program to today's four-year Faculty of Philosophy with as many as 17 study programs in all three study cycles. We are still the only full-fledged organizational unit of the University of Zenica that inherits the tradition of the humanities in synergy with the social sciences."

The Rector of the University of Zenica, Professor Jusuf Duraković, addressed the audience and emphasized the importance of the Faculty of Philosophy's contribution to the development of the entire University, and in particular, referring to the opening of new study programs. During the festive session, certificates of appreciation were awarded to deserving individuals who have been contributing to the work of the Faculty since the first years of the Faculty's establishment. Along with professor Indira Meškić, employees of the Faculty of Philosophy Velida Mahovkić, Satka Žuna, Samira Mahovkić, Šefika Bajrampašić, Mediha Arnaut, Jasminka Ekinović and Aida Alić also received awards.

On March 10, 1994, the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina passed the Decision on the establishment of the Pedagogical Academy. The decision was announced and officially entered into force on March 11 of that year. At the February session of the Scientific and Teaching Council, a proposal was adopted to establish March 11 as the official day of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zenica. After 30 years of work, the Faculty of Philosophy today has 17 study programs within which almost 3,500 students have graduated.

The Days of the Faculty of Philosophy event was organized to mark the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Philosophy and was officially opened with the exhibition "Documents from the archives, memories are alive", by Mirza Džananović and Alice Arnaut.
The event's rich program aims to promote the humanities and the profession in the public through a series of activities - from the exhibition, through language courses, math days and evenings, promotion of publications, thematic gatherings with primary and secondary school students, sports competitions, and all the way to conferences and round tables. The program will be closed at the end of May with the jubilee 10th international scientific and professional conference Science and Modernity.
