First math evening

Tonight, as part of the celebration of 30 years of work and existence of the Faculty of Philosophy, the first mathematical evening was held in the organization of the Mathematics and Informatics study program and the ZDK Mathematicians Association. Lecturer Narcisa Hadžajlić, assistant in the field of Software Engineering at the Polytechnic Faculty, with the topic "The Magic of Geometry in Islamic Architecture" took the attendees through the colorful world of Islamic architecture. Through a relaxed lecture, the attendees could hear about the importance of proportions in Islamic architecture, about the golden ratio, i.e. the natural proportion of beauty in the Shah mosque in Isfahan, and about the basic principles of fractal geometry present in the Islamic architectural patterns in the Alhambra in Granada and in the Nasir ol-Molk mosque in Shiraz. . After the joint activity, the attendees also learned the basic symbolism and abstractions of Islamic beliefs and concepts through geometric expression in Islamic architecture. We marked the end of the first mathematical evening with a relaxing gathering and exchange of experiences in the field of education and teaching of mathematics and IT.
We would like to thank everyone who made this evening unforgettable with their presence.
