Projects of students of the Department of Cultural Studies

The students of the Department of Cultural Studies realized a number of interesting projects within the framework of regular classes, of which we highlight two in particular:

The exhibition project "Women also built Zenica" was realized with the aim of recognizing and appreciating the historical role of women in the development of the city of Zenica. During the preparation of the exhibition, students researched the names of streets, boulevards, squares, bridges, educational and public institutions in Zenica. Data show that there are a total of 150 streets in Zenica, and only two are named after women, Sestara Ditrih street and Kraljica Katarina street, while 43 streets are named after men. According to the same data, there are three boulevards, six squares and four bridges in Zenica, none of which are named after a woman. Out of a total of 35 primary and secondary schools in the city of Zenica, a total of 15 schools are named after men, and none after women. These data motivated the students to present the contribution of four women: Natalija and Ljubica Vaclav, who were the first piano teachers in the Primary Music School and thanks to whom a large number of musicians were trained, then Sanele Redžepagić, who was an opera artist in whose honor it was founded foundation with the mission of spreading awareness about breast cancer prevention, and Sabaha Čolaković, who actively participated in the fight against the occupiers during the Second World War.

The exhibition project "Trail of Zenica Bridges" was created with the aim of raising awareness of the "presence" and importance of bridges in public space. During the preparation of the exhibition, the students collected relevant historical data about the bridges on the Bosna, Kočeva and Babina rivers. At the exhibition, students presented a total of 11 Zenica bridges.
