Through this competition, we want to encourage an interdisciplinary approach, enabling students to combine their mathematical skills with artistic expression. Our goal is not only to encourage the authors of comic books, but also to promote mathematics as an inspiring and accessible subject, thus contributing to the spread of a positive attitude towards this scientific discipline among the student population.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>TOPIC<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main inspiration for this competition is mathematics. You can write any kind of story, and here are some examples:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adventures in space (explore astronomy, interstellar distance, body geometry),\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Creating math superheroes (who use different math concepts to solve problems),\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Codes and enigmas (solving puzzles, deciphering, researching algorithms),<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Geometry in Art,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">History of mathematical geniuses.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>RULES <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CHALLENGE<\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The call is open until <\/span><b>March 18, 2024<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create and submit a comic that includes mathematical elements or ideas.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Avoid using violence or themes that are not suitable for all ages.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Avoid using existing characters (for legal reasons) or real people who have not given consent to appear in your comic.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each comic can only have one author, but one author can submit multiple independent comics.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participants are responsible for the authenticity of their work and respect for the copyrights of others.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><b>TECHNICALLY <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DETAILS<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Title: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Define the title and design the front page.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Content: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The comic should, in addition to the cover, contain 2 to 3 pages (A4 format) on which <\/span><b>mandatory <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">use one of the following templates:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ff.unze.ba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/comics.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-21120 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/ff.unze.ba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/comics-300x200.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"482\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ff.unze.ba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/comics-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/ff.unze.ba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/comics-18x12.png 18w, https:\/\/ff.unze.ba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/comics.png 580w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Techniques<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: It is allowed to draw by hand or use any digital tool. Take care of image and color quality.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Document format: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All documents should be in PDF or PNG\/JPEG format. If you are sending more than one document, everything must be packed in .zip or .rar format. The naming of documents should be clear and simple, preferably containing the name of the author and the title of the comic.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>APPLICATION<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Application for the competition is submitted online <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/7CLsh3jVp1qweB9q8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Google Forms<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deadline for submitting the final version of the comic is <\/span><b>18.03.2024.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> years.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>SCORING <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AND THE RESULTS<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The submitted works will be reviewed by a 3-member expert jury that will announce and reward the two best comics. Additionally, we will reward the most popular comic that will be evaluated by the audience on social networks.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ceremony for the announcement of the competition winners and awarding of prizes is planned <\/span><b>25.3.2024.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the premises of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zenica. Prizes are provided <\/span><b>IMTEC doo<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All works will be published in the gallery on the website of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zenica.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>TUTORIALS <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AND INSPIRATION<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Creating a comic may seem challenging, but you can use any technique that works for you. Check out some examples to get inspired:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Popular webcomic <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/xkcd.com\/626\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">xkcd<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it is based on simple figures and drawings.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many webcomics, like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smbc-comics.com\/comic\/math-and-war\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saturday Morning Breakfast Cerea<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">l, or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/68.media.tumblr.com\/4854e9ec7b2d0c2fbf3292b3a6592dae\/tumblr_okc9kbAkrv1vbwf2ko1_1280.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">webcomic_name<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, use simple drawing styles to share very smart, deep and funny ideas.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can also use <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irregularwebcomic.net\/4918.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">photographs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> instead of drawings. Photo comics have become increasingly popular in different countries in recent years.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Famous comic artists like Jack Kirby and Jim Steranka experimented with combining <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idm314.org\/assets\/img\/2023-comic-challenge\/kirby.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">collage<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idm314.org\/assets\/img\/2023-comic-challenge\/steranko.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">op_art<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with his drawings.
