Yesterday our students had an amazing opportunity to attend a lecture by Margaret Booth Pierce, a Fulbright specialist in the field of medical and cultural geography, and a child advocate. The professor held a lecture on the sociolinguistic factors affecting the introduction of new words in the English language, with a focus on terms arising on the social periphery, namely slang, in contemporary contexts.<\/p>\n
